I happened to come across some old theatre programs at an estate sale. I love San Jose!

Anyone have a better version of this? Better, as in straight, the quality of the photo itself is good.

As a matter of fact, yep. Here it is. (It’s kind of big)

helplesslonging asked: Are you a big fan of Davis Gaines as Phantom? I am. Davis might be my favorite Phantom. Both for vocals and acting.

Hi, there. I’m a fan of his Phantom. I’ve listened boots with him (over and over I might add), and what I heard was wonderful. Sadly, I’ve never seen him live.

Out of a playbill from July 1993, the Kennedy Center. Phantom was there June 30th through October 2nd, 1993. Cast included Rick Hilsabeck (Phantom), Terri Bibb (Christine), Sarah Pfisterer (Christne alt), and Nat Chandler (Raoul)

Masquerade (well..obviously) Press photo. Ran in a newspaper on 1987-11-01. Caption it ran with:
“Andrew Lloyd Webber’s newest musical, “The Phantom of the Opera,”  transports playgoers to the opulent Paris Opera.”

I adore these. From a press kit. 1997-07-14. Patti Cohenour.

From the back (it’s on both):

A scene from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s award-winning musical The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Harold Prince. The new touring production will play Ottawa, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary during 1991 and 1992. At the same time, the original Toronto production is continuing its open-ended run at the Toronto’s Pantages Theatre.”

It’s been uploaded before, and in color by others. Don’t care. Love this shot of Davis Gaines. (any excuse to upload a pic of him :-D)

Totally ’90s hair, dudes! These images kinda crack me up, due to the hair…Anyway. Chicago Tribune.

1. 1992-01-20 - “Scott Cheffer is a youngish, impulsive phantom and Karen Leigh is the object of his desire in ‘Phantom.’”

2. 1992-01-09 - “Rehearsal pic. “Scott Cheffer recently stepped in to take the lead role in Candlelight’s ‘Phantom.’”

3. 1992-02-14 - “Candlelight Dinner Playhouse offers ‘Phantom’ and a Valentine package”

4. 1996-09-06 - ” ‘Phantom of the Opera” returns to Chicago in January at the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse.” (The hair was so popular, they had to come back!

All from the Chicago Tribune. Larry Adams is the Phantom, Jamie Dawn Gangi is Christine. Local production of “Phantom” at the Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace. Dates and captions are as follows:

1. 1991-09-06 - “Jamie Dawn Gangi, as the reluctant, innocent diva Christine, comforts Larry Adams who plays the title role in “Phantom.”

2. 1991-09-05 - “Larry Adams as the Phantom and Jamie Dawn Gangi as Christine in the Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace production of ‘Phantom’.”

3. 1991-10-17 - …well, it’s the same as the two captions above…

Chicago Tribune 1990-02-04. On the back it says that Ken Hill’s Phantom is coming to the Chicago Theatre February 6th - 11th. Probably from the same packet as the Rebecca Baxter photos.

Chicago Tribune (I think) Rebecca Baxter in Ken Hill’s Phantom of the Opera. Photo on the right is dated 1989-09-10, but they look like they’re from the same photo shoot. Photo on the left has this text on the back:

In the ‘Phantom of the Opera’ by Ken Hill, the Original London stage musical adaptation of the Gaston Leroux classic novel about the hideously disfigured, mysterious and misunderstood Phantom and his romantic obsession with a gorgeous and gifted, yet naive soprano Christine. This adaptation brings Hill’s new lyrics to the operatic music of Verdi, Gounod, Offenbach, Mozart, Weber and Donizetti, resulting in this international musical hit of murder, mystery and song.
